I want to outfit each machine with its own set of screw drivers. I have been meaning to do this for some time. I also want to try to figure out what to do with the vinyl samples I picked up at a yard sale last year. I started playing around with them on Wednesday and made a cute little coin purse. It is just the right size for needles, too.
After a morning of trial and error, I finally have a design for the tool kit. I don't want to spend a whole lot of time making these so I wanted to use the samples as they came off the stack. I am happy with it. Now to figure out the most efficient way to produce them in quantity.
Prettier (oops, I spaced out stitching the center line)
What a super idea! What size and kind of screwdrivers would you keep in there? Do you buy new ones? I have one main toolbox that I leave in my husband's shop in the basement. I justify that by saying it is my cardio routine. It would probably be smart to have small sets with the machines. The pouch looks great.

I keep the screw driver set similar to the ones that came with the Kenmores. There is actually room for a seam ripper too.
DeleteThat is freakin' ambitious!!
ReplyDeleteDo the labels tuck in or are they the same size as the vinyl? Did you use a leather needle or regular?
I suggest a production party:
Remember Musical Chairs? Set up a bunch of machines. Provide supplies, wine and pizza. Everyone gets to use a machine to complete a purse.
Then they round and round the machines till the music stops. Grab a machine and complete a purse. Musical sewing machine speed dating.
But you'd have to be such a machine nerd to enjoy this...
The labels tuck into the seam by 1/4 inch and it is a bit wider than the vinyl so that the top fits into it. Tooke me a while to figure that out. I used a leather needle but switched to a Schmetz Microtext Sharp when I forgot to change the needle back when I made a new label. Production party, good idea. Are you coming?
ReplyDeleteHas the date been set?

DeleteYou know, I would love that. Let's do it. How about September?
