  1. I like the Visetti. I bet it's heavy!

Are there plastic parts in the Montgomery Ward or the New Home?

I read that later model machines, (with cheaper, thinner exterior metal) sometimes have plastic parts inside.

    1. No plastic parts in these machines. They all weigh a ton. I am partial to the Visetti myself But i like the New Home too.

  2. No plastic parts - that's AWESOME!
I see these Montgomery Ward machines on eBay all the time & always wondered.

The New Home is a smart looking machine.

The Visetti is awesome. I love stitch length dial on it.

  4. Looks like the "no name" machine is a Dressmaker 600. I have one it sews like a dream! If only new machines were made with this kind of craftsmanship. My computerized embroidery machine is nothing compared to this old one.

  5. Hey, thanks for the tip. We will look for the manual. I agree with you. I cannot service my own Viking Designer II. I hate that.

  7. Hi, I think I can help you with the Nelco sewing machine. I believe it is model A-509-3. I was recently given one that I had cleaned & adjusted. I'd be interested in locating attachments & accessories if you know how to locate those. I can also help you get a manual.

    1. Thanks! We don't really have any good leads on attachments. A manual would be nice. Could you email us? See the top of the blog where it says "Contact me"

  8. I have a sewing machine that was my mother's from the 1960's or 70's. I do not have the manual and there is no brand on the machine. It does have a plate that states it is model 5400, serial number 11266. It was made in Japan. It has a logo that looks like an E lying on its back over an E facing down with extra points on the middle of the E. It needs a new belt but works well otherwise. Can you help me? My e-mail address is bsteiner_5@yahoo.com. Thank you.

  10. That "No Name" up there looks almost identical to some of the Dressmakers that were made by Singer. =o) I am almost positive that it would have said Dressmaker or Singer if it had a nameplate...
