To Market, to Market

The Singer 201 is reportedly the best sewing machine Singer ever made.  I do love it.  I have finished this 1936 201-2 and it is for sale. I re-wired the machine including re-soldering the motor leads.  The foot controller has also been re-wired.  It runs so well.  I hate to part with it.  WAIT  What am I thinking?  I have three others.  One is a centennial.  A similar machine sold on eBay today for 204 bucks.
These machines weigh a ton.  I think that I may list it as a local pick up.  Hey, you never know.

  1. Now that's one machine I've been able to score. They must all be in your area. ;-( It looks beautiful!

    1. Oh Michelle, I am SURE there must be a 201 out your way. Still I am jealous. I think you have a Midas touch when it comes to finding machines. If you want one, it will come.........

  2. Hi Elizabeth, Your vintage sewing machines are gorgeous! I see the 201 has a gear driven motor like the Singer 15-91. How many sewing machines do you own? Do you have a favourite?

    1. Hi Tammy, Thank you!!! I am rather pleased with how this one photographed. It is actually the background for the blog! Asking a Sewing Machine Addict how many sewing machines he or she owns is a bit like asking an alcoholic how much he or she drinks. We all lie. At last count I had 78. I have sold some and acquired some since then. So, honestly, I don't know now.

Nope, no favorites. But I confess I don't much like the Elna Supermatic.

  3. I can only remember seeing one, and it was $75 several years ago. I should have picked it up. Seriously, I have not seen one before or since. If I can't get yours off my mind, I'll let you know......I'm thinkin'.....I'm thinkin'.....you might have to pack that baby yet.

  4. That 201 is lovely. My quest is on hold since I have just been gifted (?) a White Rotary so I have a lot to learn - again - before I get to a 201. It's not fibbing really, is it, if you don't keep track of every single songle machine? Surely not.
