Montgomery Ward Threading Diagram

A reader sent me two photos and asked how to thread this Montgomery Ward Sewing Machine.  I don't know for sure but I sent back the two diagrams below indicating how I would thread it.

If anyone out there has this machine and knows better, please let me know!

  1. Is a screw missing that also holds the thread guide? Sometimes the screw is what stops the needle from going all the way up into the 'thingy'. I have picked up machines that were missing the 'stop' and I either shoved a toothpick in the hole, or snapped off a small nail. The last one I did that way, after I fixed it, I realized that the thread guide was missing.

  2. OH! I see the thread guide. It's under the needle clamp!

  3. Tension, take-up, needle! Or in this case you would move left to right through the thread guides.
    But here is the diagram:

  4. BTW for your reader, he internal dial shown is the presser foot pressure adjustment. I see this model came with all it's parts labeled by the manufacturer. If only that happened today...

  5. I believe that is model J 1952. The procedure for threading the bobbin, the machine to sew can be found via the link below. It is not the same model, but the procedure to follow is the same.

  6. Our Bernina sewing machine in Orlando FL lasted longer than any machine we've had before. But it was a challenge to spool up, for me at least. Once I figured it out I could do it without too much trouble, but it took a while for me to get there.
