Thinning the Herd

If I had only 201s I could probably thin the herd more easily.  I sold one this afternoon to a friend.  She learned to sew on the 201 and is thrilled to "hear that sound" again.

I am thrilled to have it out of the shop.

We have one all ready to ship when the buyer gives us the go ahead.  I wonder if Steven has noticed that big box sitting on the scale in his shop?

We have one 201-2 left.  A Centennial.  I guess it is time to get it in the house and give it some exercise.  Then I can list it.

  1. Looks like your doing pretty well with the thinning... so what is the count down to now?

  2. Either my mother and I have been awfully hard on our Singer 201 or the machine in this photo was very gently or rarely used! The stencils along the front edge of my mom's machine (that I now use) are worn away, the enamel is chipping off at the front, and the numbers on stitch length guide are faded to invisibility. And I sure wish I had that sweet little sewing guide to the right of the needle. Wouldn't that be fabulous to have?! Who can not love a Singer 201? It's great to have it look beautiful but the best part is that is sews so well. Nancy from joy for grace

  3. It does have paint chipping from the front edge. I filled in the stitch length regulator numbers with gold paint. I shined it up with Carnauba Wax; smells good and makes the machine sparkle. It is a beauty, for sure. But I have one that is even prettier. I kept that one. Oh and did I mention the stitch? Yes, it has a gorgeous stitch. I thought I was finished with 201s but I think I won't pass one up if it came my way.....even though I have three left... One to sell, a 201-2 and a 201-3 that is treadled.
