Kenmore 158.960
I bought this on eBay. I was the only bidder and Betsy made me do it. It came from California and arrived today. Fortunately it was very well packed and did not suffer from the 3000 mile trip. HOwever, it originally had a case and the wiring suffered terribly from case crimp abuse.
So now I have more wiring to do. Jeez. It isn't like I have nothing to do. But I think I might do a cheater fix on this. More tomorrow.

Doesn't it feel good knowing that you CAN fix it though? Nice machine!
ReplyDeleteYes, I admit that it does. But I have SO many to FIX. Up early tomorrow to get to them all.......
ReplyDeleteYes we are sick, I haven't counted mine machines yet, does the ones I've loaned out count too? So here is the question? If someone offered you $10,000 for all your machines would you take it? If the answe4 is yes then it's not an addiction, it's just building up inventory.
ReplyDeleteSo does that mean we are sitting on a gold mine?
DeleteHi! I just saw this post while looking for information on my "new" Kenmore 158.950. It looks almost identical to yours! Mine, though, came without a food pedal. It has a lever that is pushed by your leg. Not sure what it's called, but it was bolted into the cabinet and I've removed it so I can get the machine checked and tuned up. Since you mention wiring, I thought I would ask -- do you think a foot pedal that says it will work on the 158.960 would work on a 950? Mine has three metal prongs on the bottom of the machine and Tue cord has three slots like on an outlet. Love these old Kenmores! This is my 3rd. I'm not in your league!
ReplyDeleteAs long as the plug to the foot controller fits the male counterpart on the machine it will work. Your machine has a knee controller.
