What I learned on Summer Vacation

How to make Chicken Broccoli Quinoa Casserole and
how to keep my mouth shut.

I am not so sure that my son and daughter-in-law will agree about the mouth.  They did eat the casserole, however.

Now that I am home and released from Granny Nanny duties, the dogs and I have plans for the next week.  Lots of walks, some sewing and some serious sewing machine repair work.

There may be vodka involved, as well, as a spray starch and a parts cleaner  (cough)

  1. Ahem**. So where's the recipe? My little grandson has suddenly developed a ton of food allergies so we need gluten-free ideas pronto! Whatcha got?

    1. http://pinchofyum.com/creamy-chicken-quinoa-broccoli-casserole. I imagine one could eliminate the bacon. I would suggest cornstarch instead of the flour for the thickener since there is a gluten problem. I inadvertently bought low sodium chicken broth. If you do that, add a bit of salt at the table. I don't think milk is key but it makes a creamier sauce, no doubt. The Gruyere cheese is really good on top. I likely will substitute for something less dear next time I make it.

  2. I have NEVER learned how to keep my mouth shut. How do you do it? On my summer vacation I inadvertently offended an entire family of total strangers on an airplane, just because I could not resist making a snarky remark to another passenger. At least it was sports related and not about anything IMPORTANT--except to the offended people.

    1. Total strangers don't count. If you made a comment about the Boston Red Sox, likely you were right. They are in the basement. The only good news about that is that the Yankees don't have a chance at the play offs, either.
