This Silver Maple has shaded our house for decades. It had a companion when we first moved here. That tree, also a Silver Maple, was rotted in the center and we had to take it down. This one had some limbs that needed trimming, but it was still robust. Not now. It is time for it to come down, too. Sometime this week the Tree Guy will come with his big truck and crew. We will get the fire wood. We will miss the shade.
Hi there,
ReplyDeleteI'm in Texas and we are mourning a lot of trees that succumbed to drought and the horrible heat of last year. We also lost a few wonderful oaks to a wildfire - along with a barn and tractor.
SO I know how you are feeling.
One reason I'm taken with your picture is that it reminds me of DH's aunt's home in Pittsford. Every season looks like Vermont. (Well, there's no winter in your selection.) I'm enjoying your blog.
Karen
Thank you, Karen. (PS picture number 6 was taken on 12/31/2010, actually. Look close, there is snow on the ground)
